English projects - CE1 and CE2 Amsterdam
Austrialia (CE2)
The children of CE2 had a great time learning all about the country of Australia.
Using Google earth, we went on a web quest to discover all about the different landscapes in Australia.
Then in pairs, we wrote some imaginary postcards from various important tourist destinations.
Finally, we celebrated « So Australian Day » where the children could bring in and present any objects they had at home that had a link to Australia.
We had a great time learning about Wombats, Koalas, Australian you-tubers, Australian food and much more!
A Victorian winter (CE2)
The children of CE2 enjoyed going back in time and learning about Victorian England.
We read an adapted version of the Charles Dickens classic “A Christmas carol”, learnt Victorian songs, made Victorian decorations and looked at some very weird Victorian recipes!
Easter Map hunt
The children of CE1 put their map reading skills to the test with this tricky egg hunt!
First they had to mark on their map where in the playground they had hid their eggs.
The they swapped maps with another group to try and hunt some eggs for themselves.
We didn’t let the rain stop us, it was an egg-celent Easter!
The Chocolate melting machine challenge (CE1)
Whilst learning about changing states of matter, the CE1 were given a very tasty task: make the best chocolate melting machine.
Each small group was given the same equipment and then each group timed how long it took for a square of chocolate to melt in their machine.
Doing this, we learnt about the importance of types of materials, containing a heat source, proximity to heat source, and how delicious melted chocolate is!
