Les projets de la section internationale américaine d'Amsterdam
The USA Map Project
The children of the American international section very much enjoyed composing this large map of the USA.
They were tasked with choosing a state to research, presenting their findings on a state map and adding their piece to the map puzzle on the wall.
It was an excellent way for everyone to discover just how large and diverse the USA is!
The USA Timeline
Although a relatively new country, the USA has a fascinating history as the children of the International American section found out in this group history project.
Divided into small groups and given a time period, the children were tasked with finding out the key historical events and presenting those to the rest of the class.
We then assembled the individual timelines together to get a great overview of US history!
The Oregon trail
For our history topic of western expansion in the USA, we undertook an immersive role playing project based on the famous video game.
After the children were each given at random an occupation, a family size and a family budget then the fun began.
First, they had to use their individual budget to buy supplies for themselves and their family, would they buy enough of the right things without spending all they had? We would soon find out! The wagons left the drop off point and at every stage of the trail the pioneers had a choice to make, and that choice always had consequences! And of course, everyone had to write their own pioneer journal along the way.
Despite a series of delays meaning a few wagon trains were stuck in the mountains over winter, eventually most of the pioneers made it to start their new life in Oregon! Home of the brave!
